THE WONDER THAT IS NAPULAWAN

(For a day
I was independent,
     skillful,
          wise.
Not letting
The baby cry
For food,
     comfort,
          Mommy.

For a day
I was oblivious,
     daring,
          carefree.
Not minding
The worries
Of must do,
     should do,
          will do.

For a day
I was strong,
     courageous,
          determined.
Not entertaining
The darkness,
     the rain,
          the pain.

For a day
I felt so wonderful,
     so weightless,
          so in love.
Not wanting
Anymore,
     anything,
          anyone.)

Where else could you have
Your hands in the heavens,
Your feet on the earth,
And the soft, cool cotton clouds
Around your waist?
